Blog 10
For this assignment we had to visit a store that we would normally never go to. I chose to go to an auto store called AutoZone. Before entering the store I thought that everyone would be sort of demeaning and think that I know nothing about car parts and think that I would immediately believe anything they say. Instead, when I walked into the store they greeted me politely and told me that if I needed any help that they would more than happy to help. I pretended to shop for windshield wipers. I asked which wipers would be best for my vehicle, instead of just telling me which wipers would be best they explained the differences between each wiper and told me exactly what I needed. I was very pleased with the service that I recieved and I would recommend going there with any problems that concern your vehicle.

Assignment #8
I agree with everything that the video had to say in class. It had solid points to it and gave plenty examples about what they were trying to say about advertisements. The reason they group products into certain categories of people is because most of the time only a certain grouping of people are drawn to some items. For example a woman in her mid 30's and onward may be concerned about her facial wrinkles, therefore they need to find a way to persuade women in that age category that this is the product for them. Some common elements of persuasion in marketing is giving statistics about the product compared to others, showing before and after pictures of someone who used the product and was very successful with the use of it, using someone who can relate to the consumer in some matter, etc. We are heading forward into a world of advertisements, soon enough you'll have advertisements calling you by your own name just to get your attention, much like the movie minority report the advertisements will be able to look you right in the eye and insure you that this is the right product for you...as far as I'm concerned there is no limit to how far they will go to make you aware of the product they are selling you.

Assignment #5
The two exhibits I went to were the one that they laid down with a bunch of beer bottles and cans and had stuff written on their faces and what not, and Friday when we all laid down and the speaker have various students different situations that come from binge drinking. I think both were very successful exhibits that made students think and conveyed different emotions from multiple students. For the first mentioned exhibit, I think it would have been more successful if they would of had some one pretending they had the consequences shown through some of people passed out, maybe little post its on their bodies saying "this person now has to worry about where his car went" or "she wonders if she should take the morning after pill...or did she even have sex?" and as for the second I would have had a megaphone so that the students passing by could hear. These exercises were helpful for some students but for the hard headed students it was just another thing to ignore.

Assignment #3
I put a lot of thought into the camera that I bought over the summer. It is a Canon powershot XS13. Five things that come to mind when I think of Canon, are memory cards, cameras, flash cubes, optical lenses, and photography. This perception is shaped because canon mainly supports photographers, and they have a good products. The top ten things said about Canon on brandtags.net are: agassi akira alebino amateur photography amazing camera amera and on and on and on andre andre agassi andre aggasi animazoo annoying another interface another adapter needed apple art artilery artillery artistic ashton asian asian pretender audi available average
There are some of these that don't really make much sense to me, but there are others that go with what I said, Canon can be used by amateur photographers but they can also be appealing to professional photographers.

Commercial Assignment
ShamWow is one of my favorite ads because it is the most memorable because of how energetic the salesmen is, Vince is so energetic about the product because of how well it works which makes it eye-catching. This commercial does make me want to buy the product because of the demonstration that he gives and the people that have used the product testify that it does work better than any other household product for cleaning spills, which is effective because they have given proof that it does indeed work.
